Let’s get this general question out of the way first since it’s far and away the question we get asked the most. “Stoner Rock” is a rock music sub genre that is loosely defined as a style that combines heavy metal, classic rock and doom metal usually with heavy riffs and grooves. Many of the bands are unsigned or signed to independent labels, so the “scene” is reliant on word of mouth and tireless touring to promote the music.
How do those tie in to Stoner Rock BBQ? Well, it took us awhile to get to this point. You can read more about our story in the About section, but at our core we love supporting people pursuing their passion, the irony is that we were working corporate jobs we hated while we were admiring those who took the leap of faith to do what they love. Our passion is cooking and when the light bulb finally went off that life is too short to do something you hate, we took the leap as well. We look at our rubs and spices the same way we look at craft beer; Quality ingredients, hand crafted blends, killer art work and a great way to continue to help others while pursuing our passion through our S.P.I.C.E. program.
We absolutely will; lighting the grill, cracking a beer and cranking the tunes is still our favorite thing to do and we will continue to share with all of you.
When applicable our spices will be used in our recipes, but we will continue to provide alternative seasonings that people may already have in their pantry. We want everyone to be able to enjoy cooking with us and not feel obligated to purchase something to make one of our recipes. Of course for those who do, feel free to visit our Shop!
Sure, S.P.I.C.E. stands for Supporting Programs Involving Children Everywhere and is left vague on purpose. As parents of three little girls ourselves, the idea of children in any kind of need that prohibits them from being kids; be it poverty, sickness, abuse or any other injustice, we feel called to help those in need. Some of the organizations we will be supporting are Feed My Starving Children, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Step Forward, Ronald McDonald House, GirlForward and this list will continue to grow. The international poverty line is set as anyone making less than 1.25 per day. That figure stuck with us, so we are donating $1.25 of each bottle and $5.00 of every 4 pack sold to one of these reputable organizations.
Again, a question we get asked a lot and although we never say never, there are no plans in the near future. We are however a fully licensed and insured catering company. If interested, please go to our Contact Us tab to inquire.
